Computers again ...21 Oct 2005 03:46 GMT47
After reading everything I can find in here and the various forums out there
I'm still in a bit of a quandary. I've just completed my open water
certificate and have a weeks holiday in Jamaica next week, and I'd like to
get a dive computer partly to get used to using one and partly ...

Practical jokes while on holiday19 Oct 2005 01:41 GMT6
Off on holiday next month with my club and I'm looking for a new joke to
play that of course doesn't put the divers safety at risk
Ones that have been used in the past and are now tried and tested and worn
out are:
Mid November: Portland or Plymouth?17 Oct 2005 18:00 GMT6
I'm looking into a trip for my club in mid November. We're looking at
Portland and Plymouth. Absolute max depth 30m, ideally 20m or less (but
we'd do e.g. the Persier)
What are the conditions likely to be like in November? Which are we more

More details will be added to the page later.
Awards for All nonsense15 Oct 2005 19:35 GMT4
Our BSAC club based in Scotland recently applied for lottery funding through
Awards for All but was turned down.  The reason for this was one of
eligibility apparently which we were not informed of before we applied and
is as follows:
Apex Quantum Home Build Interface ?15 Oct 2005 17:23 GMT15
HI Chaps & Chapettes,
I was going to start home building an interface for the apex quantum... But
before 'borrowing' my mates and analysing the companents/ circuits, I
thought I'd ask to see if anyone in UKRSland has allready done so. I know

Donning a frontzip yourself...13 Oct 2005 18:55 GMT5
Some hints or magic tips on how to close the zip on a FZ suit without
help are really appreciated. In this case it is an Otter, but I guess
it is much the same with any suit.
It is a new suit and I've applied beeswax on the zip.
Suunto battery replacement13 Oct 2005 03:25 GMT8
Sorry if this is an oft asked question but what is a reasonable price for
the battery replacement of these computers?  I've just acquired a Spyder
from my generous girlfriend and have been quoted £40-£50 by my local dive
shop which seems a little steep.
PADI or BSAC?13 Oct 2005 02:34 GMT20
I would like to take up Scuba, but am unsure Whether to go for PADI or BSAC.
A friend of mine belongs to a BSAC group, and I have done a trial dive in a
pool with them - they all seemed to know what they were doing, and were very
safety conscious, which is always good!

BOC Lifeline10 Oct 2005 20:50 GMT24
Has anyone looked the BOC Lifeline kit as an O2 kit option?
http://www.boclifeline.co.uk/
The kit is rented at a cost of £169 per annum, and includes service and
refill per year.
Aquasphere Fins10 Oct 2005 11:47 GMT1
Has anyone had experience of or purchased any Aquasphere Hydrosplit Fins.
I am curious as I don't like shoe fins in general, but would like to try
pair as it would save me taking boots on holidays. e.g Is the shoe fitting
rubber or neoprene?
FS: Apeks DS4 + ATX50 regulators...05 Oct 2005 19:45 GMT22
Due to a recent upgrade, I have two sets of Apeks regulators for sale.
They're about 18 months old and were serviced about six months ago but -
like all diving-related kit - I strongly recommend that for your own peace
of mind you get them serviced yourself before taking them ...
