Pattaya Dive School Recommendation19 Oct 2004 20:11 GMT2
Can anyone recommend a good dive school in Pattaya? I'm shortly going
there and would like to do my PADI Open Water at a well equipped and
safe dive school.
Cheers.
Beginners Ear Pressure Question19 Oct 2004 14:52 GMT6
I'm interested in taking up scuba diving, but there's a question I'd
like to ask about my ears.
I've noticed that when I'm flying my ears are fine on take-off, but on
landing they take a long time to finish popping (equalising?).  I
Name of the reef with the Million Hope wreck19 Oct 2004 14:43 GMT1
In Sharm el Sheikh region there is a wreck of The Million Hope vessel.
Does the reef on which the wreck is lying has its own particular name,
as for example nearby Ras Gamil or Ras Nasrani do?

Sticky neck seal19 Oct 2004 09:41 GMT9
Just noticed that the neck seal (latex) on my drysuit is starting to go
sticky - I don't usually use any sort of talc / spray / lubricant on the
neck (never needed it to get it on), but now I suspect not using it wasn't a
good idea...  I'm going to try getting regular coatings of ...
Hurghada v. Sharm18 Oct 2004 22:13 GMT14
Just returned from a dive holiday there.  Not sure I'll go again as, for two
reasons, firstly bobbing around making yourself sea sick on a small boat
wasn't my idea of a holiday, and secondly, once you've done a couple of
dives you've pretty much seen all there is to see and ...
Mares M1 fault.18 Oct 2004 12:18 GMT3
On a recent dive I did, my Mares M1 (for the first time ever) became
very difficult to turn on. This was a 33% Nitrox mix dive (again for
the first time with this computer).  Normally I just use air tables
with Nitrox. I managed to set it to Nitrox then and relied on the
Headaches18 Oct 2004 10:10 GMT8
When diving approx. 10 years ago in the UK I often used to surface with a
really bad headache.  I went to the Mediterranean last year and dived and
was absolutely fine.  I've just returned from the Red Sea and again,
surfaced with a bad headache on all occasions apart from one ...
OW diver in sharm18 Oct 2004 08:21 GMT16
Was just reading Dive and it mentioned a minimum requirement on 50 dives to
dive in a Egyptian national park.
As an OW diver, with maybe 20+ dives and max depth 30meters I assume that
there would be ample dive sites in Sharm for my experience (on the basis

Apeks TX40 - changing the hose entry side17 Oct 2004 21:54 GMT31
I want to change a couple of my Apeks TX40 2nd stages so that the hose
enters from the left, instead of the right (when viewed as if using the
mouthpiece).
I'm reasonably technically competent, so is this something I can undertake
underwater hearing.17 Oct 2004 17:41 GMT22
normally for me sounds are pretty muffled underwater but on a recent dive, i
had the strange experience of being able to hear almost perfectly; the hearing
in my right ear seemed crystal clear.  i could hear distinct breathing from
each of the other divers (i.e. i could ...
Caustic Cocktail16 Oct 2004 21:34 GMT4
Hi A friend of mine had a very nasty experience getting a caustic cocktail whilst on a Dolphin SC Rebreather.  He's ended up with pneumonia which the docs say should have killed him.
He did predive leak checks and a bubble check at the start of the dive but reckons he forgot to ...
question on content of Nitrox courses16 Oct 2004 08:49 GMT34
I'm some while off doing needing to do a Nitrox course, but was wondering
whether there is really much to it?
By this I mean, although I've got a great deal to learn about diving, I
don't really want to pay ?100s for someone to teach me basic physics.
About DCS (decompression sickness)16 Oct 2004 00:35 GMT5
I wonder if anyone here can help with a question i have concerning
Decompression Sickness.
If a mild case of DCS is untreated or undiagnosed what are the concequences
and what can be done about it in a later stage?
Buying on ebay15 Oct 2004 17:13 GMT1
I'm looking to get a Suunto Vyper. I see that there's a "Shop" on ebay.uk
called "Water and Wheels" that seem to sell these computers at a pretty
competitive price. However if you go to the Suunto site they are not entered
in their list of retailers. It makes me wonder. However they ...
