Recommend me a BCD please12 Sep 2004 15:45 GMT7
I've just come back from my 3rd time in Sharm and want to buy a bit of my
own kit. I've just passed my AOW and have just 16 logged dives(all in
Sharm).
I have my own mask and snorkel so I was thinking of getting a BCD next (as

Fourth Element Thermocline "Wetsuit" ???10 Sep 2004 23:25 GMT13
Just been to the new local dive shop to have a look, (BCD & Wetsuits
mainly), and the guy there suggested considering the 4th Element
Thermocline vest and shorts - He said he would be wearing them as a
shortie wetsuit equivalent in the Southern Red Sea in November. The
Fame at last!10 Sep 2004 23:23 GMT4
Last month Vobster Quay (www.vobsterquay.co.uk) played host to the boys from
Mountain Biking UK (MBUK) magazine. On a somewhat overcast day, MBUK staged
its annual 'lake jumping' event with some of the top names in mountain
biking taking to the lake via a ridiculously steep ramp!

I want to get my Poseidon regs serviced soon and would like to
know if anyone can recommend any dive shops etc who are good value. I don't
mind sending the regs by post so location is not a problem.
Thanks

Learning to dive in the UK08 Sep 2004 21:52 GMT6
I am going on holiday to the Maldives soon and wondered whether there was
anyway of learning to dive in the UK over a course of a couple of weekends,
even if the open water dives had to be carried out whilst away.
I guess I could arrange private sessions if need be but not really ...
Blue Planet Goldfish Bowl08 Sep 2004 21:47 GMT14
Has anyone here dived at the Blue Planet Aquarium at Ellesmere Port?
I was thinking of booking a visit for our club over the winter. I was
wondering if people thought it was good value - I've looked at all the info,
and at ?75 for 30 minutes diving, I'm hoping it's pretty impressive ...
Diving Insurance08 Sep 2004 14:46 GMT7
I am going to the red sea soon for a week long liveaboard diving
holiday and am thinking about getting diving insurance.
What is the opinion of dive insurance? Is it worth it? Are the
insurance companies good at paying out in the event of a serious
PADI and BSAC08 Sep 2004 09:28 GMT13
I'm sure this gets asked all the time!
I get the gist of the major differences, BSAC generally cheaper and if you
have the time, PADI quicker and a bit pricey. Of course there are slight
differences in the training too...
Agir-Bokk Wings08 Sep 2004 09:18 GMT4
Hi, I am looking at buying one of these (Habrok 47LB with SS Backplate
and Harness) to go with my new Twinset. Anyone own one of these?
Opinions? I know they are now being sold as DIR recommended but that
not really why I want one. It looks to be a quality piece of kit and
Tabarka07 Sep 2004 23:31 GMT2
Off to Tunisia shortly. Got a holiday in Tabarka in the north west. I've
been told it is the best diving in Tunisia, but can find next to nothing on
the web about it.
Anyone been there, have any experiences of the diving, best dive outfits,
Suunto Stinger problem with Nitrox07 Sep 2004 15:46 GMT19
I recently dived a 40M wreck with a mix of 31%. I carefully set my stinger
to 31% and got my buddy to verify the setting. As usual jumped in and except
for cursory checks largely ignored my computer for the first part of the
dive. About 15 mins in I noticed that the computer was ...
