Our older son is with a group that has just started their OW cert class.
I went around to some of the local shops to see the equipment, etc.
A couple of things popped into my head... wonder if they have been invented ?

Book Review: "Diver Down"05 Apr 2007 04:27 GMT20
Even though I have not received my certification -- yet -- I found the book
to be far more educational than scary.
Taking lessons learned from others who have made really, really, stupid
mistakes, the author passes this info on to you so you don't make the same
WTD/NWTD05 Apr 2007 03:59 GMT3
For any of you Navy folks (or Marines) who may know this:
On some Naval vessels (carriers in particular that I've noticed), I've seen the above
designations "WTD" or "NWTD" on the hatches to various rooms on board. The best
I can come up with would be "Water Tight Door" vs. "Not ...
Does this sound right? (PADI Certification)03 Apr 2007 03:47 GMT78
I was reading an article written by someone who recently passed their OW
PADI certification.  They seemed to feel the hardest part of the pool test
was the swimming test (no time limit), and learning to hover at a given
depth.  Otherwise, there was no mention of the instructor ...
For those visiting the Keys...03 Apr 2007 02:52 GMT1
I had the pleasure last weekend of visiting the new History of Diving
Museum at mm83 (Islamorada).
It was VERY well worth the time and money and no one with even the
slightest interest in history should miss it.

We have a group of 5 older Boy Scouts taking the course.
Just a clarification on the PADI training multimedia CDrom...
Can it be used to install the software on multiple computers,
and then just put on the shelf as a backup ?
Nemo 3302 Apr 2007 02:43 GMT4
I was looking around the web when I found the Nemo 33.  It is a indoor
diving complex near Brussels.  The amazing thing, there is a pit that
is 108 feet deep!  Caves, pressurized diving bells, and warm water.  I
know this is pretty much the only pool of it's kind.  Does anyone know
Why OW certification?02 Apr 2007 00:44 GMT111

"natural" body of water.  No man-made lakes, quarries, reservoirs or
anything like that.  Why?

buying a Mares Rebel 12 reg/octo, I've used a few different regs as
rentals.  Mares seems to be something I can use, and afford.  I also
crossed paths with a Cressi-Sub Aqualight R BC that i thought was
