Dive/snorkel in Maui/Oahu30 Nov 2006 23:04 GMT6
I'm going to Maui and Oahu with family in late December, and I'd like help
finding boats that do both snorkel and dives.  I'm the only certified diver, but
the others would like to snorkel.
I'd really like to do a two tank dive at Molokini followed by one at Turtle
Sharks30 Nov 2006 18:54 GMT7
I have lived near the coast all my life. I have been surfing for over 20
years and don't consider scuba diving because I am afraid I will be
subject to shark attacks. Besides, the water here is murky. I would be
pushed around on some exhibition if I were to go. Maybe some other time ...
USS Algol30 Nov 2006 01:40 GMT1
Dove the Algol on Sunday off the Ol' Salty II, sailing from Belmar, NJ.
First, a word about the boat.  I've dove off the Ol' Salty II twice
now.  It's a nice boat.  If you live within striking distance of Belmar,
it's worth checking out.  The captain is Nick Caruso, an ...
LEO death rate declines29 Nov 2006 19:35 GMT28
Fewer law enforecement officers were killed in the line of duty in
2005 than in 2004.  But a cop was still more likely to be killed in an
accident than by a criminal.  I don't know how they rate DUIs that hit
cops, we had two last year, but no other deaths.

"personal" EPIRBs?28 Nov 2006 20:32 GMT2
I've been watching as the EPIRBs keep getting more sophisticated and
smaller.  Now I see "personal" EPIRBs offered.  These are small enough to
wear on your life vest.  Since I kayak and sail small boats in the waters
off Oahu, I was thinking it might not be a bad idea to get one.  ...

Do the right thing. :-)
CHICAGO - Malachi Ritscher envisioned his death as one full of purpose.
He carefully planned the details, mailed a copy of his apartment key to a
friend, created to-do lists for his family. On his Web site, the 52-year-old

Diver looking for Xmas dive vaycay/package27 Nov 2006 20:11 GMT1
I have a week off between Xmas and New Year's and want to go diving to
escape the holiday madness. I'm live in the northeast, so the Caribbean
or Mexico would be ideal. Anyone have any good recommendations for a
liveaboard or dive resort that won't cost me $2K? I'm traveling solo

Toby25 Nov 2006 20:35 GMT3
Our little Corgi boy Toby needs some help.  Friday night he was
diagnosed with autoimmune hemolytic anemia.  He's been to one vet or
another since then and is spending the night at the emergency vet.  We
don't know exactly what's going on, but there appears to be a mass on
40 Degrees25 Nov 2006 01:15 GMT3
Turkey Day, AM.  Forty degree water.  Poor visibility.  Brought back a two
inch brass pipe with colorful, straight, stem between the bowl and lip
fitting; and a couple empty beer cans.  It must be that melting ice is
turning the water.  61 minute dive in comfort.
