Sometimes, I don't even take my full kit, and just go dive with it. It's a lot easier than humping all that stuff to the beach and back. I've found that if I hold my breath a lot, I can get good bottom times, too.

When I discovered that yet another rubber dive mask and succumbed to dry rot, I got a new silicone mask. Its definitely more comfortable for long periods of wear, and I've heard that they last longer if you take care of them.
