Met My Instructor for First Time31 Jul 2004 02:24 GMT10
Well, I went to the scuba shop that I'm going to take my lessons at to
pick out my mask, snorkel, fins, and boots.  I had a chance to meet the
owner/instructor.   I have to say that after meeting him and talking with
him I more anxious than ever to start my lessons.  He was very ...
% of Air for BCD?30 Jul 2004 21:15 GMT14
What percentage of air in a scuba tank goes toward the BCD during a
typical dive?  Is it a large and noticeable amount or small?  Under 10%?
More?  Again, just wondering!
Equalization problems29 Jul 2004 02:09 GMT11
Just finished by OW certification. However, I went on a dive with the
instructor to a nearby island before the certification. I started to
dive, but had super sharp pain in my forehead. I decided not to dive
and stayed on the surface. I came back, and after some search found
Newbie adding some weights.28 Jul 2004 19:38 GMT7
This is going to be hard to explain, especially with my broken
english, but here goes.
My wife and I were outfitted with our weights by the PADI instructor.
I use 5kg and she uses 3. Our buoyancy is not too bad for newbies, and
Stupid Ascent Question28 Jul 2004 19:09 GMT74
I've been thru my Padi Open Water cd rom course two times already, but
there is still something basic that I don't understand.
How do you actually ascend from a dive?  Do you just swim up or do you
let your BCD lift you up?  I know the air expands in the BCD when you rise,
Decent Scuba right near Miami Beach?28 Jul 2004 18:10 GMT3
I will be traveling to Miami Beach in mid-August and will be staying at
a hotel on Collins Ave.  Does anyone know if there is any decent scuba
diving within a few (5) miles of that area?
Any comments will be appreciated.
undersea walking28 Jul 2004 14:25 GMT21
While on vacation, I took an undersea walk and I found it to be really fun
in Nassau Bahamas. I never went SCUBA, but is it similar? I went to this
place: http://www.underseawalk.com . I even bought an underwater case for my
digital camera. Here is one of the photos I took:

Some of you may have seen these new Shark Week

out.

Souping up the hand held vhf radio27 Jul 2004 00:59 GMT9
Being on bed rest for a month has left me with a little too much time on my
hands.    ;^)    One of the ways I pass the day is to listen to the chatter
on the vhf channels using my 5 watt hand-held.  Unfortunately, it just
doesn't seem to have that much of a range.  While the Coast ...
