Following up from the 'life on the reef' thread, does anybody have any
recommendations for a good fish ID book?
I'm looking for one on the reef fish of Southeast Asia and the Pacific. I've
seen some excellent ones in diveshops, but don't know who wrote them.

Can anyone recommend some good scuba locations with a few hours of
Newark International Airport ?
Is there anything worthwhile off Virginia the Carolinas or Georgia?
What recommendations are there for Florida?

at last I have found some money and self-confidence to get a certificate

I just saw a PBS program on whales.  It mentioned a place Northeast of
Australia named Tonga.  It said that it is one of the only two places in the
world where one can swim with Humpback whales.  It sounds great.
Has anyone every been there?
