IDC in another country?17 Feb 2004 02:41 GMT3
PADI Divemaster is looking to communicate with Instructors that did
their IDC certification outside of the USA (or home country).
I am interested to know if doing the IDC Course outside the US was a
dis-advantage, or perhaps the opposite? And, what were your most
Diving career?17 Feb 2004 02:14 GMT13
Does anyone know...what kind of careers involve diving and what
qualifications  and experiences do they require?
Anyone care to share their experiences?

SAC vs. RMV16 Feb 2004 22:35 GMT16
How exactly are these related...?  Is is possible to derive one from
the other?
The books I have are frustratingly unclear.  I can get my SAC easily

Just curious....should I carry a gun onboard a boat when I'm renting a boat

Thanks if anyone can help!
Newbie Questions16 Feb 2004 05:55 GMT50
Ok, I'm thinking about getting into scuba diving.  I was going to do it
about ten years ago but just didn't get around to it.  Now I'm starting to
think about doing it.  Anyway,  a few questions:
Are there any crash courses to learn and get a scuba diving license?
I'm not a strong swimmer16 Feb 2004 01:29 GMT41
I think scuba diving looks wonderful, and I would love to try it.
Unfortunately, my swimming skills aren't that great. Do I need to be a good
swimmer in order to dive?
(Please don't flame me. It's a sincere question.)
Fish Poisoning Detection15 Feb 2004 19:18 GMT18
Q: I recall that a low-tech way to detect fish poisoning in your catch
(spear/reel/etc.) is to offer some of the raw meat to a cat.  If the
cat won't touch it, you shouldn't either.  This was brought up in the
context of eating a barracuda that was speared.  Apparently barracuda

Inexpensive underwater camera?14 Feb 2004 19:11 GMT3
I'm going to Aruba soon and plan to dive a few times.  Wanted a cheap
scuba camera that will take decent pictures.  Any ideas?
This "shield" looks promising, but I bet it doesn't produce enough
light and probably makes for extra distortion.    What do you think?

I'm sure most of the rest of you know this, but it was news to me. I
heard about this from a new friend I met in Cancun last month. He's on
the DAN board of directors and has a pretty interesting stories of his
own about diving and hyperbaric medicine.
