As per the title.
Any one like to suggest dives we really should not miss when we are in
Scapa next week?

The Tabarka. Get inside it (it's quite safe) and go take a look at the
engine room.

The Stromness Hotel :-)

Second Keith's recommendation for Tabarka and I'd also recommend
the James Barrie. Yes I know that a 1970s trawler doesn't sound
very attractive but it's an excellent dive.

Outside the flow, Cotavia is a nice dive.

I second the Cotavia, and third the Tabarka.

The Manina. 40 miles west, so you need good weather. See

some some stuff.

If you get enough replied then you'll probably get all the names of all the
wrecks in and around Scapa Flow!

My 2penneth is the Markgraf for a Battleship, the Koln for a Cruiser, the
Tabarka for a Blockship and the James Barrie for something in excellent viz.

Gordon's choice also sounds fantastic.

Cheers
Matt.

I really enjoyed the Markgraf and Kronprinz slightly over the
cruisers.  My personal favourite is the Bayern turrets.  You can get
down right inside them and see the big guns.  It's really weird being
_under_ the sea bed!

If you have plenty of gas you can swim along the scuttle scar from the
east to the west turrets but choose carefully when you do this because
you may end up swimming against a current.  I did this the second time
I dived the turrets and I was knackered by the time I got there.

If you are interested in seeing some side scan images of some of the
scapa wrecks. check out:

Tabarka in the flow, if gas diving the Pheasant is the best dive I've _ever_
done, if out of the flow the Cotovia or the Tomalina in Westray

Just back from Scapa last week, viz was varible from about 3m-20m
depending on the sites. Water temp 14C.
We dived the usual sites and enjoyed them all. We dived the UB116 when
the weather was not to good, 28-30m well broken up but lots to see the
best viz of the week at around 20m. One
of those sites that you see from half way down the shotline then you can  pick
your spot. A good second dive.
