HP Hose swap

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how to swap a HP hose? Its on my Apeks console, and I
want it on my Cobra computer. The problem is, I can't see how to get it off
the Apeks. I can't even see the fittings so I don't yet know if they're the
same as the Cobra.
Its an old Apeks console, looks like a solid block of rubber. There's a
picture of one here: http://www.stensones.com/diving/dive_kit.asp which I
found with a Google search. (I am not connected with that web site in any
way, and if you're reading this, Mr. Stensones - Thanks very much!)

Any help or advice appreciated. I know the easiest way would be to take it
to my local dive shop, but that's 35 miles away, and is only open while I'm
at work before Saturday when I want to go diving. If I can't do it myself
before then, I'll attach my Apeks to my reg instead of the Cobra.

Thanks in advance
Steve

Order a new hose for the Cobra would be my preferred option. If you're
quick you may get it done online and delivered before Saturday.

I'll get a replacement as a spare, but I can get it at my leisure now. I
think I would have followed your advice if I'd thought about it sooner.

Thanks

If you haven't made the swap yet, you may still have to.  Not all high
pressure hoses are created equal.  Some have different fittings.

I did make the swap yesterday, it screwed on tight and doesn't leak in the
bath. So I think it is worthy of a further trial in deeper water.

No!
All high pressure hoses are not created equal!
It went on OK and didn't leak, but it wouldn't swivel. I'll have to buy a
new one.

Crap.  I wish I had been wrong.

If you got that far, it's a pretty sure bet it's a good fit.  I ran into the
problem in Cozumel.  I had a pin hole leak in my hp hose.  I swapped it out
with a spare set I use for travel while my wife shopped around for a
replacement.  It turned out that US Divers uses a different fitting on the
gauge end.

Press the instrument out of the rubber block from the back. It will be very
difficult because of dried salt and other grot, but it will come out. Don't
be tempted to prise it out with a knife or screwdriver unless you are
prepared to wreck the console.

Soaking a rubber console in HOT water often helps the process

Yes, I put it on top of the airing cupboard to soften it a bit.
Thanks
