I can confirm that Dananeer at the end of the main drag still do awesome
steaks.[1]
The diving wasn't bad either.
Dive boats[2] blowing up, burning down to the water line and sinking is
a bit of a bummer if you and your kit are on board.
I wasn't.

Although it looked impressive no one was hurt.[3]

Ooh! Tell more! I'm going in 3 weeks, like to gen up on the gossip before I
get there.
Dananeer, AFAIC, best restaurant outside any of the hotels.
Water temp around mid to high 20s?

Walk past Dananeer, turn left and go to the restaurant on the corner (Vinos
I think) opposite the Duty Free shop  - even better food & cheaper than
Dananeer.

The set up I dive with told me to say 'Mr. Alun' sent us .... and it worked
instant 20% discount on everything.

SWMBO ... reckoned the steak she had was best in Sharm by a big margin.

I'll try it - what can go wrong, apart from a dose of the Sharm-el-sh.ts
(again!)? I reckon it's the Oom-ali that does it, though it tastes great.
Perhaps the pigeons stuffed with frick on the traditional Egyptian retaurant
on the roof of the Hard Rock Cafe had a part to play too.

Try Bianca's or Charlie's Tavern or The Tunnel or All's Well or Evie's etc
etc etc when next you find yourself in Gibraltar. Viz not as good as Sharm
though (not difficult!)

The only times I had the Sharmm-el-sh.ts was after eating traditional
Egyptian food. Last week I put it down to the humus that accompanied the
meal.

I have had the Sharm Quick step on 3 out of 4 visits .... just put it down
to Egypt, wife had a bad case of it this time, such is life I guess.
Interesting when in Dahab ... it was the Egyptian Dive master who was doing
the 100m sprint up to the toilets every so often .... so locals get it as
well  (and so they should !)

It's difficult to avoid the local food when you're on a boat and the crew
prepare the food! Frankly AFAIC eating differently is all part of the
experience of travel, and a part I generally welcome. What I think is wise
to avoid is any use of tap water. Beware salads, rinsed in tap water f
course. Once cooked, the water will have boiled for a long time. I also
avoid tea and coffee as the water won't boil for long enough. Soft drinks
the order of the day. Bottled water OK.
