Does anybody have any trick or workaround to allow the clearance of
dives from the log & history on Suunto Vyper ?
Just started using one .. and it has some 30 dives in it from the
previous user, including max depth of 54m  !  (not something I intend)
Suunto manual & web site does not offer any help ... and seems to be
saying there are 999 memories and that is it, first in first out ....

What about via the PC interface or if I took battery out for a few days
?

1) If you have the PC interface download all the dives to your logbook in
the "Dive Manager" software.

2) Select each of the 30 dives (one at a time) and select "Ignore Dive".
This puts them in the "Ignored Dive Folder", as the memory in the computer
fills with new dives it will overwrite the oldest dives in memory. Each time
you download new dives to your logbook it checks the Ignored Dives folder
and deletes any dives from the folder that have been overwritten in the
computer. NOTE - DO NOT delete the dives, if you do they will continue to
download each time you download new dives until they are overwritten.

The computer can hold a limited number of minutes of "dive profiles" in
memory, the number of dives would depend on the length of your dives and the
sampling rate of the computer. When it say's it holds 999 memories they are
referring to the computers ability to keep track of the total number of
dives the computer has recorded, the total bottom time and the deepest
depth. When I put dives from my EON into the Ignored Dives folder I'm pretty
sure it removes them from the dive history also.

If the history doesn't clear in the computer it will still be right in your
dive log (software). I was just testing this on a used computer a friend of
mine bought but I was injured February (dive boat in Mexico) and I don't
know when I'll be back in the water.

Except that doesn't remove them from the Vyper's memory, just means they
won't show up when you next download from the computer in Dive Manager.
For what the OP seemed to be asking, this doesn't really answer the
question. As far as I know there is no official way of doing this, and
I've not seen mention of any unofficial way of doing it either. However,
if indeed avoiding the annoyance in SDM is what is wanted, so be it.

IIRC Suunto service will be able to reset it for you.  You might be
able to do it via the PC interface, but not with the standard softwrae.
Taking battery out will not help.
