Looking to buy the above in the New Year sales. Anyone know of any current
offers available.
What sort of memory should I go for considering a Red Sea liveaboard
holiday. Rechargeable batteries required???

After looking at these figures
<http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canona620/page5.asp> it all depends on
two things - how many photos do you want to take per dive, and will you
take something to download the images onto.
I would recommend getting a pair of 512MB cards and maybe a 128 as a
backup. Each 512MB card would allow you to take just over 30 photos per
dive for 10 dives. Since this is an average figure, and you can delete
bad photos at the end of the day, it should give you plenty of room.
The prices for 1GB cards are getting pretty close to that of 2x512MB,
so you might consider that, but at over 300 photos per card, I don't
think that you will fill a 512 on one dive, and spreading the usage
between two cards will make them last longer.
(If you get very near the end of a card, then just keep it for topside
use, and use a fresh one for underwater. As long as the camera is set
up, it will add the date taken as meta data to the photos and you
should be able to sort them by that later.)

Thanks for your very helpful reply. Will do as you suggest.
I see the following on offer with the Canon A620:
Hama "19 in 1" USB 2.0 memory card reader.
Take it that this is for use with my computer/camera interface.

Yep - that'll be for downloading images from your memory cards without
having to do it through the camera (means that you don't waste battery
power and is also often quicker than the camera).
After having another look at the figures, it looks like the camera's
per card estimation might be a bit high:
I would think that the actual space per card would be closer to
512MB/2.8MB = 182. You might consider an extra 512MB card if you are
going on a 2 week trip. That would bring you back up to the original
estimated total.
However, if you were taking a laptop to download to, this becomes
irrelevant, but that adds a whole new level of things to worry about.
Enjoy.

Many internet sites offer plenty of room to store your images until you
come back to your pc. Check out if there is an Internet café close to
your hotel, to upload your shots!
