Has anyone dived Alanya in Turkey as I am flying out soon.
Is there much to see?
Any comments would be much appreciated.

Hey, me too, so anything would be doubly appreciated.

As far as I can see from a bit of searching around on the web Dolphin Dive
are probably the best operation. There was another one which wouldn't let
you dive below 24m!
Saw a few negative comments on an American forum but in the context of it
didn't compare well to Carribean & similar tropical, coral infested waters.
Well what a suprise.
Caverns appear to be the main attraction but also a WW2 French wreck in
something like 12 to 32m I think. It was carrying a consignment of white
flags from an Egyptian cotton factory ;-)

Maybe see you bubbling down there. Oh God, that reminds me, back to open
circuit - uurrgh.

I've been diving there and frankly after 3-4 I had about seen it all.
It's not only with tropical waters that it doesn't compare well, but
also with the western part of the Mediterranean.

The viz is good, but what's the use when there's not much too see?

I finished my courses in Alanya a few years back, and I can recommend
Dolphin Dive.  The only negative aspect was that they served the same
stuff for lunch every day of our stay ;-)

As for diving in Alanya... well, water is warm and clear, there is
two small caves (a tunnel and a siphon), and some kind of a wreck.
Other than that, its quite bare.  On the other hand, one gives anything
to stay away from the loud city, so just hanging out on the boat is
quite ok.  Also go visit the ruins on top of the hill.

Thanks for all your replies - but it doesn't sound too good.
I feel a bit deflated now!
Mmmm perhaps its better than Stoney?
