I've been forced to replace my computer.  I bought a Nexus quite
a while ago, because at the time they seemed pretty cheap
compared with other Nitrox computers that were on offer in the
place I was shopping.  Since I bought it I've used its two mix
capability but only the OC side of things.  I'm thinking of not
replacing it with another Nexus, because, while there are a lot
of good things about it, I really hate the "permutations of wet
contacts" style buttons it has and it's now no longer cheap for
an OC two mix nitrox computer.  I've found Nexus~£300,
Vytec~£270, Quantum~£200 which will all do the job I want my
computer to do.

The Quantum's pretty new, but the manual makes it look like it
would work perfectly well.  Are there any good reasons why I
would spend the extra £70 for the Suunto?

The thing I have found in the manuals for the two machines that
the Vytec does but the Quantum doesn't is dive simulation.
"Planning" on the Quantum appears to be restricted to looking up
no-stop times for different depths if you started diving again
now.  I did use the simulation feature on the Nexus, but I'm not
sure I used it £70 worth.  [And of course there's the third gas
available on the Vytec.  Are there any all-nitrox dives which
benefit from using two decompression mixtures?  I've mucked
about with a PC decompression planner and can't find any that do
(significantly)].

There's a Quantum review, which may be of use, available here:

Do you like doing loads of extra deco? If so, got for the Vytec as my
Quantum always clears before my buddy's Suunto, though minutes after my
Cochran. And if you shop around, you'll beat the £200 price tag for a
Quantum.
