I don't know if this will work, but since so many are so impatient, I
thought I'd try uploading my photos myself to someplace they might be
accessible.  Somebody please try this site and let me know if it works.

Nevermind.  The Snapfish site wants people to sign up for their service to
see shared photos.  I wouldn't do that and won't ask you guys to.  I'll look
for another way . . . at least until Pete S. has put them on his site and
informed everybody where it is.

Lee. I can carry anything you want.

mail to nigelh at combro dot co dot uk with the phrase
"The wars of Troy are over" somewhere in the body of the mail.
I pay for no bandwidth limit so I may as well use it.

afterthought:
or email for FTP details

If you just send pictures I will do the usual thumbnail trick
or send full page stuff.

If you've never tried it before, give www.bugmenot.com a go.  Just enter the
URL of the site you want to get into, and it'll provide a userid and
password for you.  Works on most popular free sites (including Snapfish).

Nice gator Lee!

Thanks Lee - but there is NO WAY that I would sign up to anything to do with
Earthlink, they are one of the biggest SPAM operations going! I see that
Nigel has offerred, I'm looking forward to the photos.

So I noticed.  Before I uploaded to Snapfish, I looked for information on
the free web space I think used to come with my Earthlink account.  Netcom
is part of Earthlink.  I didn't find it.  Perhaps it's just lost, but maybe
it's no longer free.  Not finding available webspace, I found, and tried
Snapfish.  I then sent myself an invitation (the source of the link I
provided).  When I followed it and found that, to see my photos, you had to
register your email address, I sent the "nevermind" message follow-up to the
original offer.  I left the photos on Snapfish overnight just in case
somebody thought it worth it to subscribe.  I'll take them back sometime
today.

Pete, If you're still out there, I sent several of the photos to the address
you provided.  If they failed to arrive, I can send them again.  If the
arrived and are in process, please let the group know they're on the way
and, perhaps, how and when to get to them.  Otherwise, I'll take Nigel up on
his kind offer and send them to him as well.  You offered first, you get to
chose.

I'll also continue to look for free web space.  It's time for the Lee and
Jayna Bell website that died when my previous provider revoked their free
space program was resurrected.

Why not pay a small sum per year for your own domain and a decent amount
of web space and bandwidth, rather than comtinually chasing free deals
which come and go over time...

Would £25 a year be too much to pay for a domain name, a few GB of disk
space and 1GB per month of bandwidth?

I'd have to find a source of £s, but it's probably not too much at all.  I
guess I'm just stuck on the fact that the free webspace that came with my
ISP subscription that remained unused for so long, appears to have gone
away.

Those of you who have active websites surely know the effort required to
keep one current and interesting.  When the service that carried my previous
site terminated their free space program, it was as much of a relief as it
was a disappointment, particularly after the DIR crowd I was battling at the
time found the site.  8^)  Time heals many wounds.  GI III and I will never
be friends, but we're not longer active enemies and I appear to have
forgotten the work that goes along with the pleasure of website ownership.

I'll give some thought, and some research time, to your suggestion.  Who
knows, soon there may be one more link in the UKRS web family.

OK, for now, I once again have an active website.  Everything in it is old
and, for the most part, the favorite links are no longer active.  There is,
however, a section on the Everglades that includes pictures I've taken over
the last few years.  The newest ones, those that I've mailed to Pete S., are
not there yet.  Hopefully, there's enough there now to interest at least
some of you.  I'll post the new ones as soon as I can get around to editing
the pages they'll be added to.  The current site is free, but offers only
limited upload capability.  I suspect it won't be long before I break down
and pay for a site that will accept FTP transfers.

The url is http://www.geocities.com/lauderdalesbc .

Enjoy

You're welcome.  The ones on Pete's site will eventually make it to mine.
They were all taken in the last few months.  The ones on mine are old.  My
site went down a few years ago and it wasn't until just now that I
resurrected it.

Nice pictures, how big do the gators get, I've dived with croc's
in lake Malawi many years ago but they were small less than
1,5 meters. We have big ones in our lake St. Lucia estuary
were they swim quite happily with the bull sharks, but it's not
a place I would dive.

I haven't researched it, but it is my impression that alligators do not grow
as large as some crocodiles, but they do grow large enough to be a problem.
Two meter gators are pretty common and I seem some considerably larger than
that.  The one on the bank beside the cypress trees was about 3 meters long,
give or take a bit.  The one in the water was about 1 1/2 meters long.
