OK guys, for those of you that didn't notice before, like Frank, Zak,
etc etc, I'm leaving the UK.

It's been nice here most of the time, and I'm sure I'll pop up on this
list from time to time, but it seems almost certain that I'll not be
diving too often around the UK in the future. Well, maybe in august,
but that another story. Al, keep my place at the table, plans are
afoot.

Where? Me, the Breather, Tigger the cat, and her indoors, are off to
New Zealand, Land of the long white cloud, Aotearoa, the Shakey Isles.

I'm being forced to do a month in Maldives first though, with final
departure for NZ on 5th March. It's a hard life......

Pete,

It was good to chat.

I believe we have met on a boat before, possibly you were diving with us at
samesamediving.

Hope you have a great life abroad (and good diving).

You retiring Pete, or are you going to work down under?

BTW Jez and Jackie, a couple of brass hunters I know, emigrated
there a couple of years ago. So I expect all the NZ wrecks will
have been stripped clean by now...

Officially I'm going because I have a trade on the "Skills Shortage
List".

There are many unstripped wrecks out there.

Niagra for one. Lermentov. And others. And some quite large cave
systems..... Her indoors says I can't do caves, so that coment was
entirely unofficial......

http://www.deepdiving.net/ has the full story on the Pearse Resurgance which
is one of the more involved systems.

Hi Pete

Strange old world.. Me ( a TV Cameraman), my Wife ( a Physiotherapy lecture)
and or 13 month old daughter are all thinking of also going to New Zealand.
The plan is to fly out for a holiday this time next year then if we like it
to leave sunny Wales ASAP.. To my surprise media people are on the "Skills
Shortage
List" as well.
What about NZRS???

No, just pop up here occasionally to piss them off!

We went last year with a trip "to see if we liked it".......

My suggestion is to go asap, as I believe the points system and health
requirements are about to be altered.

You're from Wales? You did realise that an good standard of english is
required? ;-)

The points should be fine thanks to my wife who has a real job.Health
requirements changes in April I think.  I would love to ASAP but never been
to New Zealand so thought it would be good to check it out first. My
employer the lovely old BBC might be all set to get rig of loads of
unnecessary waste ( like cameramen) and spend all the money it saves on new
non programme staff so I might get a nice cheque.

Yep from Wales so the idea of all the sheep in New Zealand appeals to my
valleys up bringing. Is that good standard english with a capital "E";-)

Where are you going?

I'm doing the migration at the end of July. I'm going down on the
student visa excuse, and hoping that they'll let me stay on after my
three years are up.
