Hi
I'm planning on writing a program that will take the hard work out of
calculating gas mixing
Some of the features I intend to build into the program would be allowing
the user to enter their own personal preferences (regarding PO2's and
narcosis depths for instance), and a facility for calculating what you have
after an air top off
I intend to make this a customisable program, so to look at the air top off
feature for instance, the user could input the maximum narcosis they wanted,
and have to suffer less pressure, or input the pressure they needed and
decide if the resultant narcosis is OK
I also will probably let it build a database so centers could use it to log
the fills they do
If anyone is interested, I would appreciate suggestions as to what the
technical diving community would like to see in such a program
Although a fairly straight forward proceedure, I don't want to include a
facility to produce a table, this is more to do with any liability issues
rather than program design
Also, I intend to write this to run on a Windows platform, If there is a
requirment for it to run on UNIX or a Mac, then I'd be interested to know
TIA

Wooo. Has Frank been leaving his nasty pills about?
I haven't done anything quite like that. I just do
blending with some twiddles for EAD and END. I only
put 'top off' on the IPAQ version.

Thanks for that Nigel, nice to have had a positive comment
I think I'll do it anyway
It will be a way of getting back into seriouse diving
When it's done is there any chance you could have a quick look at it
It will probably be a bit of a tinker toy for myself so I can't say when it
will be ready
Thanks as well Zak for taking the time to reply sensibly
I'd also be interested to see the application Pete S has produced
But I'd really appreciate it if he could leave Franks pills alone ;-)

My link merely pointed to the web page that Nigel had with his
software on. I really don't understand the stuff about nasty pills.

Do read Nigel's stuff about Van der Waals then. The ideal gas
approximations are OK for people using calculators but if you are
writing a dedicated blending program, there is really no excuse for not
doing it properly.

All natural baby, the result of dealing with - well those that know, know
;-) appologies to the rest of you (David) if I'm too direct, it saves
confusion in the translations.
In Petes' defence I did go round today.

Almost everyone has written their own.... its a useful exercise, but dont
expect to be able to sell it!

Lots of these available either for windows base, or for palm. In
addition lots of others that I have on spreadsheets.

I've got GUE's Blender program, but nothing for my Palm. Is there something
similar that will run on a Palm version 5 platform? How about IPAQ?

Is it just me sitting here with a mental image of Nigel bouncing up and down
like an over-excited child?
Is it just me who has a funny feeling that he might *actually* be bouncing
up and down like an over-excited child?

If they don't I really am wasting my time trying to write
clear visual images.

How come the moment I get the doctor to give me a heavy
industrial sea-sickness remedy to try the club boats are
out of the water and the sea, as seen from the office
window, is like glass?

Hey,
Put the breather in a box and get up here. There is hardly any ice in
the bay and we even have a boat in the water. The viz is fantastic and -
well - it's bloody f*****g cold so the jumping up and down bit comes
into good use...
But do hurry. If the weather keeps like this it'll turn into an ice dive
in the matter of hours.

If I could find an airline that didn't want 700E each way in
excess baggage I'd be tempted. One day I'll be there again...
This year I've already scheduled most of the big holidays.

On palm I use Guy Wittig's program, I think his web page is at
www.users.bigpond.com/wittig/mixer.html

There's something called 'Mixer' I've got on a Palm, fairly
simple but it does the trick.

That's the Guy Wittig program Keith, same one as I use.
