Lovely little post on Divernet -

I liked -

...called DAN (as instructed to do on membership info). The emergency no I
rang responded with the message " the mobile you have rung is currently
switched off, please leave a text message."

Oh a post like that. I didn't think DAN allowed people
to say things like that :-)

Pete want to pass on your Solicitors details?

Ready for when the Legal Papers arrive?

:-)

They'll deny it.

They'll threaten you with legal action if you continue.

This is a slippery slope.

But it does sound VERY familiar.

They might do this, but do they have a leg to stand on?

That depends on who they use for their own medical insurance.

No but do you sufficient funds to pay for the lawyers all the way
through the courts?

For some reason my brain appears to have left out a "have"

Probably. 1st of all, if (when) they'd be suing me in Finland they'd be
burning a lot of money, and if they lost, the costs would be paid by
them. Also, legal fees over here are not that expensive (been there,
done that), although they would make a significant hole in my travel fund.

2nd, over here it is pretty normal to have an insurance to cover for
legal expenses as a part of your home insurance. I have that as well.

Have they actually sued someone, or are they just bullying?

Ouch.

I've just bought a year DAN cover. I'm relying on them to get me out
of trouble in the unlikely event that anything goes wrong. Is this a
known problem that people are afraid to talk about due to the prospect
of legal action??

What you should do is do a google group search for:

DAN insurance uk.rec.scuba

which will get you to

http://tinyurl.com/3oh55

And have a good read.
