Hi Guys,
Well after the usual insurance rigmarole Dive Master have offered to replace
my wet Olympus C-4000 with a Olympus C-60 and new housing. Or give me ?300
in cash. Not much fuss really just had to get a letter saying it was
uneconomical to repair.
Looking at the reviews of the camera the main issue is it has no manual
white balance. However it does have a Underwater case setting. Has anyone
got this camera and if so have you any links to some sample underwater
photos.
Otherwise I may just take the money and run. However they did say if I want
a different model it may be okay and they would try to purchase it and
charge me any difference in cost.
All views welcome.
Cheers.

Why not get the latest 8meg pixel model (as I would if I did not have a
C5050), and pay the difference.

From what I can gather, you're better off sticking with the C5050, Tony! I
get the impression that the 5050 is still generally regarded as the best
Olympus camera for underwater photography. I've got an 8080 myself but I'd
still like a 5050 for underwater photography...

I've been quite happy with mine - but then I'm a new digital user. The lack
of WB is a shame for a camera that is otherwise quite versatile, but there
is an option to adjust it later, using the supplied software.
