I've never tried the Greenforce LED stuff, but having been a long-time
sceptic about how well LEDs would work underwater I have been
semi-converted. I got a 10 LED torch from Maplin for ?20, does 90 hours on
3x C cells, down to 30m (apparently). Very basic, but tried it for the
first time last weekend and it does seem to work surprisingly well. For
peering into holes it seemed just as good as the HID torch my buddy had, but
haven't done anything deep and dark with it yet so not sure how it would
perform over a greater distance - certainly seems promising though, so
certainly there is the potential for hte technology to work - whether or not
the Greenforce is good I coulnd't say.

The big problem with any multi-bulb set-up, irrelevant of the technology, is
that its nearly impossible to properly focus the light into a narrow
penetrating beam.
Not only does this limit the use to reasonably clear water but also means
that it no use as a an underwater signalling device (similar to drawing a
letter 'O' on a postage stamp with a 25mm (1") brush).
