Dive magazine are on http://www.divemagazine.co.uk/, you can subscribe or
contact them from there.

990 is no more, it folded some time ago. It was to be followed by a magazine
called "Beyond The Blue" (see
http://www.deepimage.co.uk/home_pages/beyondtheblue-freeoffer.htm) from
DeepImage, I'm not sure whether it ever got going - can anybody else advise
on that one?

It did - the 3rd issue arrived a few days ago.

I am still waiting for the first to arrive!  I kind of gave up in it a
while back.

I had to prod them a few times. I think there was something of an IT issue
with the free offer.

An IT issue? You mean it didn't happen. Like Laz I'm still waiting for
issue one. If you can't get a launch right what hope do the following
issues have?

Ditto. I'm hardly going to buy a magazinr that didn't ship me the free
issue they promised. I can't page through it in the news agents (not that
I really go into news agents anymore), so I'm not going to buy a copy on
spec am I?

No - it did happen. I emailed Leigh Bishop a couple of times, which he
passed on to Ron, who sorted it out. I then sent my subscription cheque in
and have received the 2nd and 3rd issues without a problem.

Did you try contacting them directly to ask what happened?

They've done fine so far.

You gave them money in advance after what happened last time?  I guess
you could argue that it is a different team but not receiving the
first edition make me err on the side of caution.  Therefore, think
i'll pass on that one.

I contacted them twice.  I never received any reply from Ron (Leigh
was very helpful but ultimately it is not his baby).  Finally, I gave
up.  No big loss to me really.

I am glad you have had more success than me.

No they have not. If it was a horse race they fell at fence 1.

Volume 1, issue 3 (Summer 2004) came through the door last week. They've
got some great photos, and the design/graphics quality is up to the
level that 990 had at its peak, without too many adverts. The writing in
some of the articles is excellent, in some not quite there yet.

On the whole, I think it's pretty good, and getting better.

Personally I never received the first copy they promised. I'll just buy it
in the shops, having been burnt by the whole 9>90 debacle.

Nah, me neither - signed up online for a freebie first copy (you know me and
freebies!) but nothing ever materialised. Eventually managed to pick up a
copy from Vobster but wasn't that impressed by the quality of the editorial
and the design...

I'd agree that the first edition looked a bit scrappy, but as I
mentioned further up I do think they are improving (but still not quite
there).
