Does anyone have any idea how much a charge would be for a DM medical?
Phoned my GP and they want to charge about £80 which seems a bit steep
as the HSE medicals are about this so someone tells me. All thats
needed is a medical form signed by a Gp at the beginning of the
course. I am told this also includes a urine sample analysis

Dont you need a HSE medical for DM in the UK (as you "work commercially)
and something less for a DM overseas?

links in no particular order.

Only once you're certified and wish to use what you've learnt commercially -
a standard sport diver medical is fine to actually do the course...

Yep, ?80 is definately excessive as this is approximately the same as the
far more intensive HSE medical. If I were you, I'd call around for a better
price - I think I paid about ?30 for mine but that was a few years back
now...

Dear Dippy,

The PADI requirement is for a Doc to sign off the PADI medical, typically
the doc will charge an admin fee for this, from ?15 - ?30 is the norm.

As has been mentioned, to adhear to the HSE "divers at work regulations"
you'll need a full HSE medical; I'd urge you to get a copy of the ACOP and
IMHO you may as well get the HSE medical and not waste the "admin" money,
the HSE medicals range from ?80 - ?125, if you're going to engage in DM
activities in the UK, you will need one at the end of your course.

Good Luck.
