Visitors to Vobster Quay today got to see first hand its newest dive
attraction taking its place below the surface of this 36 acre lake - a whole
aircraft! Yep, other dive centres may have *bits* of an aircraft but Vobster
has gone the whole hog and put the whole thing caboodle in the lake. Cut up
into three sections at various depths with the shallowest section less than
8 metres from the surface, divers can explore the massive aircraft wreck
inside and outside.

Took my digital camera along today and snapped off a few shots of the
various sections entering the water. Click on the link below to view them...

Sounds fun. Some sort of military plane by the looks of it.
Shame it's so far away from me (I'm up in Durham). Maybe over the summer..

It's the Hawker Siddeley HS 748 that used to be used to calibrate approach
radar and beacon facilities within th UK.

Are they going to remove all the little 'trinkets' from inside, or are they
waiting for divers to do it for them? (sadly..)

we'll be down for the guided tour soon then Jason!

Hehe. Yes, I know *exactly* what you mean - I'm sure it'll be stripped bare
pretty quickly unfortunately! I'm going in on Friday to do some filming
around it so I'll post up a selection of video clips shortly afterwards...
