Just about to kit myself out with a 7l aluminium stage cylinder. Looking for
a good quality oxygen-compatible (ie. upto 100% O2) regulator - any
recommendations?

like the comment on the bottom (by me), definitely improved by getting
a DIN kit (see Ben at Portland Oceaneering for these).

I use(d) a poseidon Cyclon.  It comes (unofficially) O2 ready.  I have
never had any problems with it.

I have and I have never had problems.  I know lots of other people
that do as well but they can fight their own corner.

These days, it sits on my bailout 7.

So do I need to get a dedicated Oxygen-compatible reg or is it another
example of the dive industry inventing a product just to fleece more money
from dive consumers? Although I appreciate that most regulators can be used
with upto 40% mixes, this is 80-100% oxygen we're talking about here so I
assume that simply getting a reg O2 cleaned is not nearly enough, right?

What regs do you use for you backgas?

Why not use a reg from the same manufacturer to reduce the number of spares
that you will need to carry and to allow some interchangability with your
backgas regs?

Most regs can be cleaned to allow them to be used with 100% exceptions being
Titanium regs.
