they want to charge me 39.99 to change they battery or they offered a ?40.00
trade in, if I buy a new computer.
as Im buying 2 that equals an 80 pound discount on a 1000 pound sale. this
is not sounding like good marketing to me
so what computer should I buy looking for advice other than buying a D timer
I dive multi level dives in warm water.

The Geko or Vyper is probably best. The Vytek is a bit over the top unless
you want the ability to do multiple gas switching and have air integration.
The Vyper and Vytec have vitrually the same display.

Yeup. I paid about that to have a new battery fitted to my alladin
nitrox. I now have a bomb proof computer which does just as good a job
as it did when new and will last (I hope) another few hundred dives.
The cost is high as they have to transport a high value item to them,
then replace with a battery which, although mass produced, probably
still costs some pounds. They then have to reseal it in potting compound
and pressure test the job.

[aside: If you buy the standard uuwatec dive timer you don't even have
the option of replacing the battery]
If you want a new computer with new functions and a more conservative
algorithm, look around - but if you already have a computer which does
what you want I would suggest biting the bullet and buying a battery.

I dive a Suunto Favour S... which has been superceeded by the Gecko... But
the Gecjo should suit you fine for standard no-decomp rec dives...
