Cargo Pockets, or Zipped?

I am looking at getting a new dry suit (about time I know!) and am currently
hedging towards the otter britannic. Had a look at their web site and can't
seem to find any information on what the difference between a cargo pocket
and a zipped pocket is, anyone here know?

Also anyone have anything bad to say about the suit?

Looking at the pictures, it looks as if the "zipped" pocket is a thin,
"document" type pocket, whereas the cargo pocket is, well, a cargo pocket.

One thought about zips is that a tiny amount of sand in the wrong place can
jam them - I had major issues getting a wetsuit boot undone on one occasion.
I therefore wouldn't want to put anything behind a zip that I might want to
access during a dive.

It's a fair comment, although having now found the pictures, the velcro
pocket looks much smaller, I think it's two cargo pockets I am going to end
up with. I can always leave them undone and make sure anything in there is
bolt snapped to a ring sown on the inside of the pocket (what I do now).

Now I just have to get some cash! Must stick old OC gear on ebay tonight!

I've got two of the zip ones and they are a good size. I fit a small
McMahon reel and Buddy DSMB in one and all the rest of my junk in the
other. It is significantly bigger than the velcro version.

I've never had problems with the zips jamming. There is actually two
zips on each pocket so what I tend to do is have one done up a couple
of inches and the other done up to meet it. If one did jam you could
then undo the other and have the opportunity to move it in either
direction, so you should be able to free it. Can not say for certain
as it has not happened

Cheers

Why not get Otter to make the pockets you want? i.e. decent sized velco
pockets. I dont know if your going for a made to measure but if you are then
i doubt it would cost you much more, a friend got it done. The other thing
to think about it where your going to put the pockets. I think Otter put
them on the from which for one isnt very stream lined and more importantly
if you do any rib diving will get in the way when climbing back in. A friend
had these and hated them because of this. If you put them on the side of the
leg they are just as accessable but without either of these disadvantages.

Just somthing to consider

Cargo are larger and about the size of a burger-van burger (and have a
zip) - a zipped pocket is tight to the suit and only good for
squeezing your car-key into (or bailout plans)

Cheers.

Not on the Otters - see my earlier post, I keep a reel and blob in
mine

I keep a DMBi with bottle in mine. The zips have never jammed on mine
either. The zips aren't as tightly toothed as a wetsuit zip, since they're
not designed to minimise water flow, so a bit of sand isn't going to be a
problem.

I have two cargo pockets.  If I were getting them again I would get them
made slightly larger so that I can get a spare reel in, along with the
DSMBi.  They both have zips, there both easy to use, the zips have never
jammed or broken.

Nothing bad to say, would have another.

Cheers
Matt.
