Question about Plaza resort on Bonaire

A recent trip report stated that one airline has started landing a big
plane at the Bonaire airport (very near the Plaza) about 2AM and
taking off again (vary loudly) about 3:30AM. The noise woke them up
every night. It was so bad that they were not going to be going back
to the Plaza. This occurred in the first quarter of 2004.

Has anyone been there recently? Is it a problem?

We are starting to plan to go to Bonaire during August this year for
some diving. Any other comments?

Thanks.

Yes, watch the guy in the bar very carefully if he breaks a beer bottle and
starts to rush toward you.  And it sounds like you shouldn't sleep in the
airport.  Otherwise it's a nice place.

I stayed there (Plaza Resort)  in Nov 97 and we had two problems: the food was very
bad, and we made the mistake of opening the window and got mosquitoes in the room and
had trouble sleeping. The staff at the resort were not friendly. The dive operation
was fine.

I live here and before moving, stayed at Plaza and Port Bonaire.

The noise is loud when the KLM arrives. I will not say different. But
I  love the plane activity..call me weird but it's part of life here
and being a small island those magnificent blue jets still overwhelm
me. With that said, it bothers some and not at all for most. I think
after two nights some do not even hear it. I rent out a villa right at
the airport (very $$) and never ever had a complaint!

I have not eaten at Plaza but it's a really nice resort. Big beach,
nice pool, well manicured grounds and walk to town. The snorkeling out
front near the sea wall is incredible. My fav!

I have been to the Plaza twice. Oceanview suite.

To go to Bonaire and complain about plane noise is silly and absurd.

Rooms were very sturdy and I was not awake ever. But that maybe was
that I was enjoying my vacation.

The staff will do anything for you and they were helpful and friendly
ALWAYS.

I did hear the planes during the day from the WORLD CLASS
snorkeling/diving beach they have in front of the resort.

The Plaza Bonaire is the ONLY place I will stay if I ever go back.

Did I also said their on site scuba shop/operation Toucan Divers is
TOP of THE LINE.

Some people they can land in heaven and complian.
