These are the resorts that I am considering for my upcoming trip. I'm
finding a paucity of info. TIA for any info you can provide.

Last July I was in the area. I've eaten at their restaurants...but
that's about all. Restaurant service was good. I walked around the
property at Luna Beach and it looked very nice, well shaded, up on the
hillsides overlooking the water .I did talk to the dive master at Luna
Beach to find out how they feel about solo kids diving. He didn't have
a problem and went on to talk about the kid his girlfriend (a dive
master) was diving with at Sueno del Mar - how well trained and
methodical she was about diving and checking her gear. He'll dive with
kids like that minus parents. Turns out it was my kid. Anyway, while I
was at the restaurant I was talking with a a fellow diner who it turns
out was a resort reviewer for one of the dive magazines - I think for
PADI. May want to see if they have anything on their site or if you
can find the issue it may be in. Assuming a 6 month lead time for
publication, I'd look in winter 2004 issues. He liked the place as I
recall. I did see a decent sized dive boat with covered seating so you
aren't baking in the hot sun - step off not back roll for entry. You
are not immediately in West End but you can walk into town. I walked
from my hotel (Sea Breeze Inn) down there for breakfast one morning.
Not a bad walk at all for just meandering about.

Solo diving is one thing, but for kids?

It was poorly worded - Kids (teenagers) diving who have parents that
don't dive for medical reasons (one has Multiple Sclerosis, the other
- me - has severe inner ear problems). Some resorts we checked with in
various locations required a parent to be diving along with the kid
and dive master.

I assume you mean how the DM felt about diving with kids without a parent on
the dive?

Yes...neither of us dive because of medical problems.

Hi,
I just returned from a week on Roatan. I spent a few hours walking
around West End, and had lunch at Pura Vida. I was craving Pizza ...
Lunch was good. The hotel looked pretty nice, as did the dive shop.
I stayed at Coco View resort. Great place! I'm ready to go back! The
diving around Roatan was awesome!
I've posted some pics online at http://www.urbanphoenix.com/eric
Happy Diving.
Oh, make sure you do the Canopy Tour!

Hi Chilly,
Thanks!
Mexico is one of my favorite places to visit. I'm now anxious to return
to Honduras as I would like to explore the mainland. Hopefully soon!
Post a trip report when you get back from Roatan. Make sure you do the
Jungle Canopy Tour. It's a blast!
