Hi! I've read many of the posts here about outfits to dive with in the
Keys. We've now narrowed our choice down to three and I was wondering
if anyone could comment on these three operations - or - if we're way
off-base to steer us to recommend a different outfit. We're interested
in diving the Duane, Spiegel Grove, and Eagle. However, this will be
our first time diving in the keys so recommendations are welcomed.
We've narrowed our choice of outfits down to Rainbow Reef, Island
Ventures, and Paradise Charters. Does anyone have any feed back on
these three operators?

I have been with Conch Republic when there was only 3 on the boat, the other
two were my brother and son -great times!

Having been with Amy Slate, I wouldn't go back. Good for convenience but
mixing divers and snorkellers is a pain!

Have Fun

I move my boat to Key Largo every summer for a month or so and I have
seen paradise divers go out for the last 10 years... Small boat (I think
a 6-pack but not sure).  Never packed, leaves from the Holiday Inn in
Key largo.  Close to the grove and the duane.  Eagle is a bit further
south (Near Islamorada)so you may choose to use two different dive ops.
not sure if one will fit the bill.

I can tell you that none of them are among the most frequently recommended
in this group.  In the northern Keys, we most often recommend Conch Republic
Divers for those that don't mind larger boat loads and Quiesence for those
that prefer smaller ones.  Hopefully, somebody will have more factual data
on the ones you're choosing between.  Good luck.

My family and frineds have chosen Capt Brian Berry at Island Venture
in Key Largo for the BEST wreck diving with ALWAYS small crowds, NO
STRESS Diving.  Check out his site and tell him Pat Cook said Hi:

Rainbow Reef is good, smaller groups, nice Islamorada location, OK boats,
close to reefs. Haven't used the others. I have used Conch Republic, as
mentioned in the other post, bit of a cattle boat, and can't seem to hold a
schedule. Quiesence is good also but to far up in Key Largo for me. I'm an
Islamorada type !

Sorry, can't help you with Island Ventures or Paradise Charters....think
they are in Key Largo.....

In my opinion, there is no where in the Keys to do Great diving.  You can see
the same thing if you snorkel!!!!

In my opinion, you're clueless.
When's the last time you snorkeled the Duane, Spiegal Grove or Eagle?

ditto....clueless........OTOH, there is a certain 'sameness' to most of the
carribean diving, but that doesn't stop me from living in Islamorada and
loving the diving/fishing/life style and I'm not ignorant of diving the rest
of the world.....
