The best on Maui is Scuba Shack.

Better than Ed Robinson's or Mike Severn's? Why?

I dove with Mike Severn's almost exclusively. He tended to be a crotchety
old fart at times, but that is easy to overlook because the diving was
pretty good. He specializes in taking out small groups of experienced
divers. If I remember right, his wife used to divemaster some trips.

On Kauai we always dove with Bubbles Below, Mike Severn's on Maui, Ed
Robinson's over to Lanai, and mainly shore dived on Oahu. Dive Makai is a
good big island operator.

I second the nod to Bubbles Below. The guides gave excellent briefings and
could find the most amazing array of critters. When I mentioned that I
wanted a smaller tank because I'm short and never use up all my air anyway
because my buddy breathes faster, they found a 100 tank for him, which
matched my rate on the 80 nicely. (I don't mind a bigger tank if I actually
get to use it all :-) They took out a mixed bag of newbies and experienced
people, but we never had to surface early just because others had sucked
their tanks dry. They shuttled the newbies back on board and then came down
to show us more cool stuff.
In the amenities department, they had a hot shower on board (OK, it's just a
hose, but it works great), and fed us tasty (if prepackaged snacks).
