Has anyone experianced the diving in San Andres?  Have read what little is
on the web.  Sounds like pretty good diving.

Been there a couple of years ago....Quite pristine compared to a lot of
other caribean destinations. San Andres is mostly a resort for people
originating from Central and South America. Very peaceful and safe, good
food and friendly people. Few tourists from Canada or the US. The reefs were
in excellent shape, the walls impressive and the wildlife quite amazing
including a good share of pelagics. Not a whole lot of dive operations on
the island then, but they were friendly, courteous and knew where to go... I
was gunkholing at the time....If you go, try to the the lagoon off downtown
San Andres on snorkel....full of small life, great site for macro if you do
photo.

Thanks for the info,  I'm sorry but I do not Know what a "gunkholing" is or
what condition one is in.  I plan to go to San Andres in the late fall of
2004.  Your info convinced me to go
Thanks

Gunkholing is sailing and dropping anchor wherever the wind carries
you.....you get to see a lot of ocean that way ;-)
