Hello,

Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Casa Del Mar on Cozumel ? We're planning on
going the end of March, beginning April, but are not sure about the hotel.
Usually we stay at Plaza las Glorias, but Casa Del Mar is a lot cheaper.
Most interesting is if they have a pier and if the dive boats pick up at the
hotel. Any information about this hotel would be helpful, or if you would
like to suggest something different.

Thanks !

I've stayed there many times and like it pretty well.  The boats pick you up
at the pier just across the street which you access by an overpass.  There
are  lockers over there to keep your gear in, as I recall.  Don't let them
put you in one of their less desirable rooms as they tried to do with me
once.  There is a nice pool with a swim-up bar and an open-air dining room.
It's a very pleasant place.

I prefer the place next door, however.  It's called the Village Tan Kah.  It
is a quaint, quiet and lovely small hotel with about 10 individual rooms,
all different.  The owners, Roberta and Robert, are very pleasant and
accommodating.  They had a website but when I try to access it, I can't find
it.  If you want more information, e-mail me and I'll look further.

We stayed there 2 years ago, they picked us up on the pier in front of the
place.  It was OK, but nothing special.  We didn't eat there... enjoyed
going all over island to eat.  Try La Mission (not downtown location) for a
great meal.  I find that while in Coz. cheaper is better, spend the money on
fun stuff not room.

Thanks everyone for feedback. We've now made our reservation at Casa Del
Mar, to a large extent due to pretty positive feedback from you guys. Single
room with ocean view was $88 per night. Will be there end of March. I'll be
back with feedback here.

Thanks again !

While you're there, check out the place next door -- Village Tan Kah.  If
you go back to Cozumel, you may want to stay there.  I have no connection
with them except I think it's a great little place.  I'm a very satisfied
customer.

I couldn't agree more.  I've stayed there twice.  An excellent choice.
