Hi Jim
I suggest that the diving is best on the north side of the island,
Speyside is always a great dive location with very healthy corals and
an abundance of fish and marine life. Plan to stay a few days at least
in this area. There are three hotels in the area : Blue Waters Inn,
Speyside Inn and The Manta Lodge, they all have dive facilities
attached and you should maybe write them to get a feel for their
operations. Blue Waters Inn is on the beach, while the other two are
next door to each other and just a few steps of the beach but
overlooking the ocean. They are on the Atlantic Side of the island.
Be sure to plan a few dives around St Giles, namely London Bridge,
Marble Island and Melville Island, for some great variety in your
diving, these sites are at the extreme north of Tobago and offer
different topgoraphy than Speyside dive sites, out here you will see
huge rocks with reef life growing, as well as some areas with many
many brain corals. The water is not as clear as Speyside but the
diving can be spectacular. The "Sisters" and "Brothers" is always
worth a day.
On the South of the island there are many many hotels and guest
houses, and dive operators and it should be easy to find these on the
internet.
