Water still warm enough?

For what?

I don't pay a lot of attention to the water temperatures here in Ft.
Lauderdale.  It's never cold enough I can't get buy with nothing more than
my 3mm wetsuit.

Warm enough to get by with a 3mm, so yes! Thank you!

Warm enough for me to get by with a 3mm.  Warmer than the water in the
Chicago area is in the middle of summer.

Let us know when you're going to be here and, perhaps there will be a mini
Dive With Amanda or at least a Have a Drink With Amanda.

Hmmph. I didn't get an offer like this when I posted a request for
information about diving in S. Florida in January. I wonder why....

Darned if I know. Maybe I was just in a bad mood that day, or a good one
today.  It certainly has nothing to do with Amanda's gender.  I'm a very
happily and thoroughly married man.  Besides, I bought my wife a gun and
taught her how to shoot it.

So, to make up for my previous failure, Let us know when you're going to be
here and, perhaps there will be a mini Dive With George or at least a Have a
Drink With George.

Hell, we all know it's warm enough for Speedos.  By then, the beaches will
be full of Canadians wearing them.

Well, good info on Ft. Lauderdale...now I'm expanding my options.

Anyone else done the hotel/dive package on Nassau?

I'm looking at a package with Orange Hill and Stuart's Cove.

I've actually dived with Stuart's once before, and they seemed pretty
nice. How is this "economy resort" for a short dive vacation?

I've done the Orange Hill with Nassau Scuba Centre. I've never used
Stwart Cove, but others tell me they are ok.

In January, I've encountered water temps there as low as 72 and as high
as 78.

The Orange Hill is OK if you're not looking for luxury. The last time I
was there was a while ago, maybe 2000. The problem with it is that it's
not near anything else. Cable Beach is within walking distance for me,
but others in our group wouldn't do it. You definitely don't want to
walk it at night unless you are streetwise and not alone. THere are
cheap jitneys that you can take to Cable Beach or Nassau, but they stop
running at about 7 PM, and then you are stuck with high taxi rates. If
you take the jitney to Cable Beach or Nassau for dinner, you are stuck
taking a taxi back, and it will be expensive. The dinner at the Orange
Hill is ok, but I wanted to try other places.

Orange Hill is the place if you want quiet and are not into the
nightlife. If you want nightlife, look for a place at Cable Beach.

Maybe I'll see you there...I'm there 11th through 16th.

I went with Orange Hill...the cost per day is comparable to places in
Ft. Lauderdale (which is where I had originally been looking and
budgeting for) and I think that in combo with the hotel, the dives
actually end up being less expensive. I've only signed up for the
morning dives, but if I decide at the last minute (like right after the
morning dives), it's only about another $50 to tack on the afternoon dives.

As for locations, they give the person doing the most dives that week a
little more say in where each dive will go to minimize repeating locations.

They also include a shuttle between the hotels and the shop, and since I
don't plan to do much else, I'm not even going to rent a car. Orange
Hill isn't near the shopping, clubs, casinos, etc., which is just peachy
keen by me.

Seemed like a good deal to me. This is my first dive trip outside the US
(not counting a couple cruise ship dives which included Stuart's) so I'm
getting screwed, I don't know about it yet.
