Me bride and I will attend the wedding of our goddaughter in Culebra
in March.  I'll be hornswaggled if I go al the way to Puerto Rico
without diving.  So who had been there and what do you recommend?

Thanks in advance, dsziede

Diving around Culebra is very nice, laid back and relaxing. I dove
several sites in 2000 with Culebra Divers (Culebradivers.com), is
located right by the ferry pier. The deepest dive made was to about 78
feet and the shallowest was to about 25 feet. The water temperature was
around 84 degrees (in July). Make sure you ask to be taken to the
tugboat wreck. Walter guided me inside the wreck to the engine room and
to the wheel house (pity I did not have an underwater camera then!) the
boat itself was surrounded by thick growth of Elkhorn coral. I am sure
you will be able to spot ordnance the U.S.Navy used to drop on the
island (Culebra was a bombing range until 1975) asimilated into the
coral at some of the sites. The nightlife on the little island was
limited to a bar near the hotel we were staying. Another site we
visited had a nice population of stingrays hidden in the sand ( again,
I wish I had a camera then!). The viz. was fairly decent thanks to the
fact that there are no rivers discharging into the waters surrounding
the island.

I would recommend, if you have time, diving the southwest coast of
Puerto Rico. There is a nice wall that extends for about 22 miles in
that area. The outfit to dive with is, hands down, Parguera Divers
(Pargueradivers.com). Angel and Roberta will take excellent care of
you.

I hope you have a great time.

Harry.
