Google Monterey, as that's the area you'd be diving. www.diver.net is a
primary California dive resource, with a searchable BBS and a comprehensive
list of dive boats. I'm a southerner, so can't really help with specifics,
but I know Pt. Lobos is a popular marine sanctuary suitable for most
cold-water-experienced divers.

Drift dive via giant strike entry at approximately N37 49.144' W122
28.678'... Watch that first step though... <evil-grin>

You'll mostly want to focus on the Monterey area, about 90 minutes to the
South.

Let me guess... Golden Gate Bridge? Your grin is more of a dumb,
toothless
one!

Hey, thanks guys. I'll definetly check those.
I'm a beginner at scuba diving though and maybe I won't be able to
enjoy most of these dives yet. But soon ... :-)

The Monterey Aquarium has some sort of scuba intro at one of their
outdoor sanctuaries. I saw a lot of late teen/early adult types
getting ready to dive.
Probably very basic, but the temperature is most likely controlled.
Plus, no tides to worry about.
The cost on the other hand..... Don't know, but I'm sure it's pricey.
Oh jezz, for a moment there I thought you were asking about "driving in San
Francisco."
When I go to SF I don't drive. I usually stay in the Knob Hill neighborhood
and just walk to wherever it is I want to go. Last time I was there a
friend drove me around town in his Mini Cooper. It was like being the
camera man in some kind of action flick.

Sure thing. I'll remember that!
