I am thinking of going to cairo and the red sea in july but I am not sure if its safe. This is my itinerary: 3 days in cairo, 4 days on a nile river cruise going to Abu Simbel, Aswan Luxor, 3 days on a live aboard from hurgada to sharm, 3 days in sharm Can anyone give me any advice. The week of 911 i had 12 flights confirmed for me for one dive trip, 3 of them through US air space........safest place to be, would'nt you agree. Its as safe as anywhere........just do it. Now then, someone above, talking about PADI training.......mentioned statistics and the correlation between how many bad PADI instructors there are......or arn't..........just think about this...... You probably should worry about the traffic in Cairo (or where you currently live) more than terrorists. Probability of dying in a traffic accident is far higher than dying because of terrorist activity. It takes only one or just a few lunatics to ruin your vacation and maybe your life. And you can meet them anytime, anywhere. Chances that you run into them in Egypt are not that much higher than in Paris, London or New York (or Cairo :-). Looks like a wonderful trip you've planned. Enjoy it!
