What's the better location/wreck reg. views, visibility, current,
whatever: Spiegel Grove or the USCGC Duane? And I would plan to dive
there in two weeks. I also did the Spiegel Grove with Ocean Divers once
when it laid on its side.
Any other "must dives" from Key Largo such as Molasses Reef, or is this
too much hype already?
Thanks
Chris
Come on guys and gals! Sure, the dive site I am inquiring about is not
that exotic than Fiji or Chuuk, anyway...
So, do you now have "stand" in line to get to the Spiegel Grove? What's
the typical visibility at the Duane, better worse than at the Grove?
Other useful hints or suggestions?
Thanks
Chris

The only Florida Keys diving I have done was at Looe Key, a bit down
the road. It was very nice, in fact it was right up there with any
place in the Caribbean I have been to.
But you were asking about Key Largo and I've never dove there.

If we don't succeed, we run the risk of failure.

I've done both wrecks. The Duane is OK, but didn't impress me as being much
better than a host of other Florida wrecks. When it was on its side, the
Spiegel Grove didn't imporess me much either. Now that a hurricane turned
it right side up again, I highly recommend it. It's a most impressive
sight, and dive. Well worth more than one trips.
I also like Silent World for the Spiegle Grove.

If you just want a dive for trivia, Banana Reef is where some of the
James Bond movie Thunderball was filmed. Some rusty pieces and pieces
remain. Otherwise, nothing unusual for a super shallow Key Largo dive.

In two weeks I will find out by myself ;-)
Silent World: aren't 14 divers already too many? Last time I used
Quiescence which I liked because maximum 6 divers will fit on their boat
and they usually ask the divers about the dive site preferences. But
they are somewhat more expensive. And they didn't do the Spiegel Grove
at that time (not sure if they go to the Grove nowadays). So I used
Ocean Divers for this dive which are the typical cattle boat dive
operation, although they did a professional job.
But thanks for the suggestions.

Either one is good. The Bibb is a nice dive also. Go where the dive
boat is going.

And I can recommend "Silent World" as a diving operator

If you go where the dive boat isn't going, either you're going to get
wet a little sooner than you expected or it's a long walk, depending
on you Messianch Complex status.
