Guys,

We'll be going on late February to the Isla de la Juventud in Cuba. Any
hints, tips, things to do, sites do dive, etc?

Thanks for any info!

Isle of Youth?  I was there a few years ago.  Trip report here ==>

Hi, Dan!

read your report, thanks!

I have a few more questions to you. Is it easy to buy cigars at the El
Colony or nearby? Does it have air conditioning? How is it compared to the
major chains? About the diving: I love photosub pics. Once the dives are
guided, is there time to take pics and catch up with the group? About the
flight from Havana to Gerona. My diving equipment alone weights 20 kilos.
Should I leave it home and rent there? What did you do? What's the water
temp? Is a diving suit required?

Thanks a bunch for your help,

Flavio

Cigars?  Don't know, didn't try.  There really isn't really that much
near the El Colony though.  But I'm pretty sure you'll be able to buy
some at Havana airport.

El Colony was comfortable.  It either had a/c or a ceiling fan.  I
never felt overly hot.  But, then again, we were out diving all day.

I move slow in the water to start with, and I was taking photos on
this trip.  I don't see why you would have any problems.  Of course, a
lot is up to the dive guide and how fast he swims.

We brought our dive gear. The only luggage issue I remember is that
they wanted Patti to check in her carry on because they thought it was
too big.  But I don't have 20 kg of dive gear either.  You should ask
your travel agent about this.

Water was ~80 F, just like the rest of the Caribbean.
