Keep in mind that pictures only depict the worst of the damage.  Recovery
efforts are amazing so far.  We have had electricity at our facility half a
block from the water for four days, and yesterday the pile of debris that was
higher than the storefronts was removed leaving the street clean.  Melgar,
the waterfront street, is now open to vehicular traffic.  Many, including
hotels, are still without power, but the electrical company employees are
working day and night up on the poles, and every evening we see more pockets
of light throughout the town.

There have not been many reports of the reef yet; not many people are diving.
Of course, we expect damage; however, keep in mind that the fastest jet
stream in the world flows through the channel.  The sand on the reefs will
slowly but surely be swept clean with the strong currents here.  Visibility
will clear up as the freshwater from the storm mixes and again the sand flows
away with the current.

Hotel reports are all about the same.  Most hotels in town plan to be open by
Dec 15, some sooner, yet it is all dependent upon electricity being restored.
Most waterfront hotels sustained significant damage.  However, this upcoming
winter season will be a great opportunity, especially with fewer cruise ships,
to experience the old Caribbean feel of Cozumel of the past.

We are reporting on behalf of Dive Cozumel and Yellow Rose.  Many people have
inquired, and we are thankful to say that we are fully operational... except
for one small thing~ we're still stuck in the harbor, because we can not move
around the sunken boat in the middle of Puerto Abrigo!  We hope it's moved
soon, because we are anxious to take a ride.

We are here in Cozumel, and will assist anyone who might need help with
upcoming travel plans as well as we can.

Best regards,
Yellow Rose Crew

You remember that long beach?  All that's left are memories.  Many of
the toys also vanished.  Many of the rooms suffered some damage, some
of the time shares are out of commission.  The "restaurant" suffered
major damage.

Do you have any news on Del Mar dive operation?  Are Juan and Alex o.k.
(along with the rest of the staff)?  And "Mommy"....the old lady and her
husband who live on Cozumel year-round and dive everyday .... I hope
they are o.k.?
