Hi,
My wife and I will be in Fiji the first three weeks of October and plan to
do a good amount of diving. Sofar our plans include the south coast of Viti
Levu, Kadavu and Taveuni. Any recommendations on dive outfitters and sites?
I'd love to see manta rays. Who rents out underwater camera's? We're both
not very experienced divers and just dive on our summer vacations. Sofar the
Red Sea, Thailand, Indonesia (Bali & Sulawesi), Great Barrier Reef,
Zanzibar, Belize. I guess we're a bit spoiled. :-)
Thanks,
Menno

Crystal Divers, operating from Nananu-i-Ra (a small island off the
northernmost tip of Viti Levu), dives the edges of Vatu Ra, the
channel between Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. The diving there is, IMHO,
overall the best I've ever experienced - which includes the Red Sea,
Great Barrier Reef, and Belize - a sampling from sharks and pelagics
to little critters and hard and soft corals. I've seen mantas there,
but not often; never a whale shark. Wananavu Beach Resort is a nice
place to stay, but accomodations (rental houses) are available on the
island.

On Taveuni stayed at Dive Taveuni which is now called Taveuni Island
Resort. Also stayed at Moody's Namena (Namena Island) which has a
fabulous reef. Both are very romantic and have dive operations. Check
them out on the web. You won't be dissapointed.

Spoiled rotten I'd say. I did fiji last Oct. great diving. SavuSavu
was our favorite place both for diving and topside. Curly of Eco
Divers there is great. Aqua-Trek in both Taviuni and Pacific Harbor
were excellent outfits. See my trip report "Fiji Diving Lowdown" by
searching this newsgroup. Have a great trip, Bula T.
