Hello, We are looking to go to the Red Sea ... Can someone tell me when the
best time to go, as well as the best town to make home base? Hurghada I
have been told .. but I really need to know as well the weather times ..
Thank you, JMM

IMHO autumn is the best time to go - I've been in October and November and
the weather has been great. Some people find December is getting a trifle
chilly. I've never been in Spring but would happily go in April - the
summer is just too darn hot - a dive guide described as like a hairdryer in
your face!
Enjoy your trip! It's a great part of the world!

I have ben to Sharm 4 times in the last 2 years at various times of
the year.
Water temp is probably best last in the year (sept-Oct) but its nice &
quiet early in the year (I like late Jan/Feb). Water temp varies
between c20 degrees in Feb to 26 Degrees+ in Sept.
I have dived with New Waves the last three times and been happy with
them.

In Sharm best I have stayed at was Hilton Waterfalls. Raddison SAS and
Holiday Inn were OK but a bit far out. MOst hotels offer a minibus
into the centre so not a great problem. Taxis are cheap too.

Also look for Sharm el-sheik, it is a lot more family friendly than
Hurghada. However I would opt for a live-a-board if you have had save 50
dives or more. There are fewer divers out that far and the sites less
molested.
Have just come back from a live-a-board out of Hurghada that went south to
the Brothers and we encountered a whale shark off the north-east wall of
"little brother".
Whatever you decide enjoy your diving.
