Anyone going to Bonaire during July or August?

I am going in August and I am a little concerned about the weather
conditions this time of year. I have a link to a weather site, but it isn't
very descriptive. Anybody know a better way to keep tabs on what is
happening down there? Maybe updates from people returning would help other
divers for Bonaire and other locations.

Dave,

Bonair is NORMALLY outside the hurricane belts. It very rarely gets
hit by them. That being said, Bonaire has, in the last five or so
years, been hit by several freak "high wave occurrences" spanned by
hurricanes hundreds of miles away that have pummeled many of the dive
operators. During at least two of these "wave occurrences", you would
not know anything was happening unless you could see the water. No rain
or wind. I have been on island several times around your projected
travel time and would not hesitate to go during that time.

I suggest that you don't worry about it. If you are going in August,
today's weather means nothing. If you have already bought your
tickets, how likely are you to cancel due to rain?

The weather there is so consistent that they don't bother with daily
weather reports. There was a tropical storm warning last week when Emily
passed, but it turned out to be nothing. Some operations suspended
diving for no more than a day. Watch the sites like Accuweather for
tropical storm info.

We just returned from there today, and the weather all last week was
sunny with some clouds and variable winds from the east. Temps were high
80's to low 90's in the daytime and low 80's at night with a pleasant
breeze. you can get a short rainshower at almost any time, but they are
always very short in duration.
