Anyone been to Grand Cayman recently? I heard it is rather unpleasant -
a building site.
Would appreciate rapid response since have to decide soon on whether to
go to Comfort Suites.
Thanks

Try Cobalt Coast - they didn't get hit by the hurricane and their dive
shop (Divetech) is fully operational.

www.divetech.ky
www.cobaltcoast.ky

just talked to the owner of divetech recently to find out the
situation, all good.

Didn't get hit?  What, did they move their shop off the island while the
hurricane was blowing?

FWIW, I was on island when Ivan went through.  Cobalt Coast and the Dive
Tech operation at that site was almost untouched.  Some of the rooms had
a little water damage but I was absolutely amazed how little was
damaged.  The Dive Tech shop at Turtle reef was another story.  It was
damaged a fair amount.

Went there 3 weeks ago as a stop on a cruise. Did some diving with Red Sail
Sports. Diving was ok. Island looks like a construction site, flights in are
going to be a problem as airlines have cut back due to fewer rooms to book.
Getting around  is now next to impossible the have "shuttle taxi's"
basically a bus that charges by the person and they don't leave till the bus
is full. So if your the first on like I was you wait 45 minutes before they
leave. When I asked the bus driver I was told  " this is Cayman island we
don't need you tourist" ( I was shocked at that statement, they need tourist
now more than ever), every one else was nice.
