I'm thinking about going to Koh Tao in late September to complete the Medic,
Rescue and Divemaster courses.  Any recommendations on good schools there?

Ban's Diving Resort offers perhaps the most comprehensive training to be
had on Koh Tao. The instructors there know their business, (many have
been with Ban's for 5-8 years,) and the equipment and boats are in good
shape. At least they were as of last week when we dived Koh Tao. You can
even do your IDC there if you want. They seem to always be running them!

As Steve has said Bans are OK
I prefer Buddha View / Asia Divers
http://www.buddhaview-diving.com/newbuild/pro/proindex.htm
http://www.asia-divers.com/
http://www.asia-divers.com/contact.htm

It really depends on if you prefer to be on or off the main beach or
beside the pier

Buddha View has a great and less bussy location. And the evening
barbeque is excelent and great value for money

I did my DM  at Buddha View
My IDC  at the <http://www.kohtaoidc.com/> Joint Buddha View / Asia
Divers IDC centre, and that is as everybody agrees (including Bans) the
best IDC centre in the island. And I am doing my MSDT at Asia Divers &
Buddha View. This has given me a wider view of the industry,

If you want to arrange travel from Bangkok send mail to Dave
<mailto:davidjtayler@yahoo.com> and he will give you full infomation on
getting to Koh Tao and will make all the arangements for the trip you
select.

Yes my suggestion is to avoid KT altogether, I was there in Sept 2001 and it
was overcrowded and polluted.
It may have been "paradise" 5 years ago but its had its day
Trust me find another destination
