Took a small group last June to CoCo View and have no regrets.
The cabanas over the water just added to the experiance.
(no tv?? a plus in my mind)
Crew, boats and general dive operation were pushing a five out of
five on the happiness scale. I understand that the resort was sold
but a friend of mine that just returned said all is well.
Meals are nothing to rave about, 2.5 out of five. Shore diving is
easy with your choice of two walls or an average wreck dive.
While it is very easy to get at least five divers per day in, I
was saddened about the overall condition of the reefs with all
the development and divers who have no clue what buoyancy control
is all about. We had an average viz of over 50' on most dives
but does drop to under 10' at times on the wreck.
I understand that CoCo View is the most returned to resort and
I think that is because of the ease of diving. They treat you as
an adult which I liked a lot. Make sure that you bring an extra
t-shirt to post on the billards wall near the bar. Our group was
celebrating with a honeymoon couple and ALL had a great time.

The new owners apparently have a background in the hotel business and are supposed to
be very customer oriented. We were there in January, and everything seemed to be
running pretty well.

We thought the meals were quite good for the most part. The salad fixings were a bit
on the lean side and I didn't care for the dressings, butt that's really my only
complaint. Several of the desserts were excellent, and while our friends took
advantage of the free shuttle to dinner in town on Thursday night we stayed behind
and had a turkey dinner that was almost a sgood as Thanksgiving.

Rain the week before our arrival resulted in a lot of runoff, which lead to chily
temps and poor viz near the wreck. When there were a lot of divers around (mostly
when people were heading in after the dropoff dives) things got stirred up quite a
bit. I don't think we ever saw less than 25 near the wreck, but near the buoy at the
beginning of the trail back it got pretty bad a couple of times.

The only rule I remember hearing was to limit boat dives to an hour so that others
wouldn't have to spend alot of time waiting around on a rocking boat. Other than that
you're free to grab a tank whenever you want and go make your own decisions. We
thought the diving was generally pretty good, and the DM on our boat did a great job
of finding lots of critters. Other places in the Caribbean offer some great diving,
but Cocoview gives you a lot of bang for your buck. Air fares are pretty high right
now (no higher for Roatan then elsewhere, though), but there aren't many places where
you can get all the good diving you can handle, along with your meals and lodging for
about $800.
