Anyone been to Layang Layang (Malaysia, out of Kota Kinabalu) recently?
Comments?

I have a business trip in that region late Feb/March next year & was
considering it.

Or what else if Im in Hong Kong, Malaysia, India?

(In this region I've dived Sipadan & Sulawesi, also Langkawi :-(,
250 odd dives, Nitrox etc.) & lots of other places, so *interesting*
places............)

Check the weather conditions. Because of monsoon period they close the whole
island from september to feb/march - I dont remember exactly.
There is only one resort on the island, and as far as I know it is worth to
go.

If you want, you can send email to layang@pop.jaring.my or go to
www.layanglayang.com. These people are the Sales & Reservations office for
the Layang Layang Island Resort.

Regards!

Hi there,

Was in LL in July this year and loved it. We had just come from Palau
so were a bit worried we would be disappointed but it was great! lots
of big walls, gorgeous prestine coral, saw some hammerheads, turtles,
manta rays, and amazing leaf fish, ghost pipefish and other macro
stuff. And great great visibility (even after Palau!). There aren't
that many sites, though, but we didn't mind going to the same place
twice. Went on really good night dive too.

It's true that apart from the diving, there's absolutely nothing to
do, so be warned. the 'island' if you can call it that is minuscule -
more like a plane-carrier, but the resort is great and it suited us
fine not having to do anything after diving.

KK is fun too. nice food....
