The forever previews on the tape I rented were much more interesting. BTW, anyone know where this was filmed?? One opening shot looked like Trunk Bay on St. John, but some of the others weren't familiar.

Apparently the filming went on for 2.5 years on weekends! Not a bad part time job...

punk-tilous - 13 Jan 2005 16:31 GMT I think the highlight of the movie was when they showed the lead woman naked in bed, at least for a pervert like me. The one thing that the movie got me thinking about though is how likely something like that could really happen, which was caused by the crude and faulty stick method of counting. I just don't see why they did not do one last count before leaving the site, which they do in all the boats I've been in.

If my buddy hadn't said "Hey, you guys . . .there's still a diver in the water . . ." I suspect I'd have been floating around by myself for a few minutes.
I was slowly ascending to the boat when I saw the ladder being pulled out. Since the crew knew me so well, I assumed it was a joke. Apparently, it wasn't.
In any event, since we were close in and near a busier area, I wasn't overly concerned. I had my dive alert and my sausage with me too, had it come to that.
My buddy was pretty pissed off though. The situation got everyone on board talking about the movie.

Even a "same ocean" buddy still has to physically be in the ocean to qualify.

:-) I posted one such incident about my Bora Bora dive on December 13, 2004, in which I was on the boat when Sue was still clicking away with her digital camera.
DM Michel asked me where Sue was, and I just pointed down. He said he remembered I did the same thing the last time I dived Bora Bora with him as DM too. :-)

Actually, the last day of diving I knew no one on board and was less then impressed with the quality. So I figured if I was going to die it would be all my fault.
The DM did say I was his buddy, but the only time we were together was at the end of the dives, last two in the water.

Could not have been your buddy because there's no way your buddy could have been on the boat while you were still ascending. On the other hand, he/she proved useful anyway.

He must be another drinking buddy.

punk-tilous - 13 Jan 2005 22:47 GMT Yeah, it did say in the beginning that it was "based on a true story", but I'm still skeptical whenever Hollywood clains such a thing.

You mean you didn't believe the Blair Witch Project?
A local boat in SoCal made the same mistake just this summer, leaving a diver in the water to drift for hours until another boat luckily happened upon him. Believe it or not.
